Burlington-the Chittenden Emergency Food Shelf is asking the community to help provide Turkeys for over 2,700 families in Chittenden County. Thanksgiving distribution is only one week away and the food shelf has no turkeys!
Donors can drop off turkeys at 228 North Winooski Avenue. Donations of canned vegetables and fixing’s gratefully accepted as well.
According to Food Shelf Director Rob Meehan “Emergency food providers throughout Vermont have been overwhelmed since the storm hit with an increased number of people in need. And with long term recovery just beginning, those increaes are likely to be sustained for some time to come.” Meehan said that food donations are extremely important and Thanksgiving turkeys can help hungry Vermonters who are entering this holiday season facing increased gas, heating and food costs.

Special Saturday November 19, 10-2pm
