FOOD SHELF NEEDS TURKEY DONATIONS
Burlington, VT– The Chittenden Emergency Food Shelf is asking the community to help provide turkeys for over 2,700 needy families in Chittenden County. Thanksgiving is just around the corner, and no family should go hungry on this important holiday.
Donors can drop off turkeys or at 228 North Winooski Avenue. The Food Shelf would also be happy to accept donations of canned goods and other Thanksgiving fixings as well.
Thanks to the generosity of community supporters, the Chittenden Emergency Food Shelf has been able to keep pace with the growing demand for our services during this tough economy. Since there have been over 1,000 new people accessing our services in the past year, we anticipate that more families will need turkeys than ever before.
Donations of Thanksgiving turkeys can help hungry Vermonters get through this holiday season even as they are facing increased gas, heating, and food costs.
Special Hours for Turkey Donations:
• Mondays through Fridays 8:00 am to 4:00 pm
• Saturday, November 21st from 10:00 am to 2:00 pm
• November 19th-20th and 23rd-24th from 3:00 pm to 6:00 pm
