Joel Berg, a leading national expert on U.S. hunger and poverty, author of All You Can Eat: How Hungry is America? and Executive Director, NYC Coalition Against Hunger, will address the fourth graduating class of Community Kitchen, a culinary job training partnership of the Vermont Foodbank and the Chittenden Emergency Food Shelf on Monday, April 26th at 2pm.

The Chittenden Emergency Food Shelf is asking the community to help provide turkeys for over 2,700 needy families in Chittenden County. Thanksgiving is just around the corner, and no family should go hungry on this important holiday.

CARSHARE VERMONT TO SHOW ART FROM CHITTENDEN EMERGENCY FOOD SHELF’S HOMEBOUND ARTISTS
The artists may be bound to their homes, but this month thanks to the Chittenden Emergency Food Shelf and CarShare Vermont, their art won’t be! These two local non-profits have teamed up to bring the works of several homebound artists out from behind close doors in a show entitled “Art from Home: A Personal Journey”.

Hunger activist Robert Egger founded DC Central Kitchen in 1989 to provide a comprehensive solution to poverty, hunger and homelessness. Egger pioneered the Culinary Job Training program to equip unemployed and underemployed men and women with the life and professional skills needed to have a successful career in the food service industry.
This Thursday, April 16th at 1:00pm Robert Egger will speak to the students of Burlington’s Community Kitchen, a program of the Chittenden Emergency Food Shelf and the Vermont Foodbank.
